New to Freestyle Skiing?
TVFR is not a learn-to-ski program, but children who can snowplow independently down a green run and ride the T-bar may be ready to become Freeriders, particularly within our Junior FUNdamentalz program.
Please contact info@tvfr.ca if you would like to discuss whether one of our programs may be a good fit for your child.

Let's get our ski legs back with a fun mountain camp with our coaches!
This camp is open to all TVFR athletes, new and returning.
New athletes and athletes registered in Junior FUNdamentalz or FUNdamentalz must have a parent available to ski with and accompany them on-snow until coaches have assessed their skiing ability.
Dates: December 5 & 6, 2026
Location: Marmot Basin, Jasper, Alberta

Registration information will follow.
Please indicate your interest in attending the camp during registration. This helps us gauge athlete interest and secure appropriate coaching numbers.
Fundraising & Volunteer Commitments
TVFR is a non-profit society.
We depend on fundraising and volunteer contributions from our members to keep program fees, competitions and sport opportunities affordable and accessible to as many young athletes as possible.
Please carefully review the fundraising and volunteer requirements below, including required deposit cheques.
Fundraising Commitment
Each TVFR family is asked to provide a $250 fundraising deposit cheque on the first day of training.
The cheque will be returned or destroyed once your family's fundraising requirement has been completed.
Each family is expected to raise $200 in take-home profit for the club.
For example, selling $400 worth of 50/50 tickets that generates $200 in club profit would fulfill the requirement.
TVFR intends to run another 50/50 raffle and may offer other fundraising opportunities throughout the season.
If the fundraising commitment is not fulfilled, the $250 deposit cheque will be cashed.
Families may choose to opt out of fundraising by paying the $250 fundraising fee at registration.
Please contact treasurer@tvfr.ca when registering to arrange payment.
Volunteer / Hill Crew Commitment
TVFR depends on parent volunteers to help keep our athletes safe on the hill.
Each family is asked to provide a $250 volunteer deposit cheque on the first day of training.
The cheque will be returned or destroyed once the family's volunteer requirements have been completed.
As athletes develop their skills and practice tricks, landing on loose snow is important for maintaining control and minimizing the potential for injury during falls.
Although the hill groomer maintains accessible areas, jump landings must still be chopped and fencing and courses maintained before each training day.
TVFR requires approximately five parent volunteers per training day to help with these duties under the supervision of our Hill Crew Coordinator.
It is also a great opportunity for parents to meet other club families and get a little exercise.
Volunteer signup will be available online and emailed to families before the first training day.
Each family will be required to complete a certain number of volunteer shifts during the season. The number of required shifts will depend on the number of families registered and will be communicated before the season begins.
Volunteer Membership
Volunteers are also asked to obtain a Volunteer Membership through Freestyle Alberta for insurance purposes.
The membership is FREE, but must be obtained through our registration page.
Please make sure all volunteer shifts are properly tracked. Sign up in advance and check in with the Hill Crew Coordinator when completing a shift.
If completing additional shifts, please communicate them with the coordinator so volunteer commitments can be tracked accurately and all families have the opportunity to complete their required shifts.
Casino Volunteering – 2027
TVFR will have an opportunity to fundraise through a casino in St. Albert in 2027.
During a casino year, we ask each family to contribute one person or designate to help fill the required casino volunteer shifts.
Building the Mogul Course
A volunteer call-out will be sent close to the beginning of the season to help build our mogul course.
Many hands make light work, and all available parents are encouraged to participate.
Additional Fees & Policies
Athletes Registered With Multiple Clubs
Some athletes participate in programs with multiple freestyle clubs. Only one club can be designated on an athlete's Freestyle Alberta membership, and this is the club the athlete is eligible to compete for. To help TVFR plan competition coaching and resources, athletes registered with multiple clubs must provide their designated club information to:
Sickness
If you are sick or feeling unwell, please stay home until your symptoms are gone.
New Athletes
New athletes participating in Junior FUNdamentalz or FUNdamentalz must have a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older available to ski with and be responsible for the athlete on the first training day. A parent may also be required to accompany the athlete later in the season until coaches have had an opportunity to assess their skiing abilities.
Assessment Day
During the first week of on-snow training, coaches will assess participants to determine whether they are registered in the program best suited to their ability. If coaches determine an athlete would be better suited to a higher-level program or requires additional skill development, the athlete may be offered the opportunity to move to another group.
Refund Policy
If an athlete withdraws from a TVFR program before training begins, a 10% administration fee will apply.
If an athlete withdraws during the first two weeks of training, 75% of registration fees paid to TVFR will be refunded.
After the first two weeks of training, program fees are non-refundable. There are no refunds for sessions missed due to illness.
Family Discount
Families registering three or more athletes will receive a family discount through Uplifter at checkout.
Cold Weather & Hill Closures
Training will be cancelled when the ski hill is closed due to temperature or other conditions.
Every effort will be made to reschedule cancelled training. However, if rescheduling is not possible, refunds will not be provided. Cancellations will be communicated through email or WhatsApp by 8:00 AM on cancelled training days.
Minimum Age Requirement
To comply with Freestyle Canada/Freestyle Alberta insurance requirements, member clubs may only register athletes who are 5 years of age or older for sanctioned programs. For the 2026/2027 ski season, athletes must turn 5 years old on or before November 15, 2026.
Team Wear
Please visit the TVFR website to access our online team store. Items can be picked up at the hill. If ordering items outside of our on-snow season, please contact vp@tvfr.ca to arrange pick up.
Athlete Forms & Code of Conduct
Athletes will receive two additional documents to sign on the first training day:
-
